Welcome to BigFeetBears

I was recently asked if I could make a limited edition of bears - as opposed to individual, one-of-a-kind bears.  Having tried this before, I have mixed feelings about it.  On the one hand, I think it shows a great deal of skill to be able to make by a hand a number of bears that all look identical.  The flip side of the coin though is that it can be, frankly, boring.

When I make bears, I like to try something new every time - a different style of bear, a new design, a new feature, like eyelids, teeth, individual toes, or claws.  Finding new techniques is one of the things that drives it, for me, and making bears that are all exactly the same takes the joy out of bear-making.

On my previous attempt at a limited edition, I made Irene, Evelyn, Connie and Louise (see Gallery page) - all of whom were made from the same pattern, but who look entirely different.  This time, I tried my level best to make the bears look identical, and made Timothy and Timothy(!) - a limited edition of two polar bear cubs (see below).

A good result?  I can see minor differences, and I am fonder of the first bear than I am of the second, but overall it seemed to work out quite well.  If you would like to adopt either Timothy or Timothy, there is a link for you to do this on the product page.  Go to Available Bears, and then click on the picture of the polar bears.
